The Netflix Anime Series SCOTT PILGRIM Reunites Film’s Cast
The long-rumored series was revealed through a casting announcement clip uploaded on YouTube, and along with the familiar setting and score, a slew of recognizable names made an appearance.
Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Young Neil (Johnny Simmons), Alison Pill (Kim Pine), Stacey Pilgrim (Anna Kendrick), Knives Chau (Elle Wong), Julie Powers (Aubrey Plaza), Envy Adams (Brie Larson), and Wallace Wells (Kieran Culkin) actually return.
With the return of Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Brandon Routh as Todd Ingram, Mae Whitman as Roxy Richter, and Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, the program will also include at least a few evil ex-lovers, including Evans, who returns as Lucas Lee.
Scott Pilgrim was originally created by writer and artist Bryan Lee O’Malley as a series of graphic novels. Scott Pilgrim, a slacker, and member of the garage band Sex Bob-omb is the protagonist of this series by Oni Press, which ran for six volumes between 2004 and 2010.
Edgar Wright adapted it for the big screen in 2010 with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which detailed the story of Scott Pilgrim‘s battle against Ramona Flowers‘ seven former loves. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World failed at the box office but found success with a niche audience.
Together with BenDavid Grabinski, well known for his work on Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? O’Malley acts as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Wright is not just a creator, but also a producer.
The Netflix series features animation produced by Science SARU under the direction of Abel Gongora. It will have music composed by Anamanaguchi and Joseph Trapanese and contain songs written by Anamanaguchi.
