Taylor Sheridan and Kevin Costner of Yellowstone have talked about Costner’s upcoming departure from the show to clear up any confusion.
Whether Kevin Costner stays with the old series or not, the new program featuring McConaughey will continue, according to Paramount president and CEO Chris McCarthy.
YELLOWSTONE Exit Rumors
In February, Deadline reported that Paramount Network was mulling a shakeup, which sparked rumors regarding Costner‘s future in Yellowstone. The outlet claims that schedule conflicts with Costner, 68, have led to the decision to move the western drama to a spinoff series fronted by Matthew McConaughey.
Nevertheless, the network has dismissed the rumor and has not confirmed any future projects with McConaughey, 53.
According to a statement made by a spokesperson for the series to Deadline, there is no news to report. The spokesperson also expressed the hope that Kevin Costner will continue to be a significant part of Yellowstone for a long time to come.
The statement further revealed that the series is constantly working on expanding the franchise of the world created by the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan. Additionally, it mentioned that the series would love to partner with the phenomenal talent of Matthew McConaughey.
According to media reports, the 68-year-old actor who plays John Dutton, patriarch of the Dutton family, has requested to significantly reduce his shooting schedule on Yellowstone and may even leave the series to work on his own film project, a multi-part western epic titled Horizon.
In response to speculation about Kevin Costner‘s involvement with production issues in the second half of season 5 of Yellowstone, his lawyer Marty Singer denied the rumors.
Singer stated to Puck that the idea that Costner was only willing to work one week was false and should not be believed. He emphasized that Costner is passionate about the show and has always gone above and beyond to ensure its success, as those who know him are well aware.
In spite of this, Paramount Network released a second statement in reaction to the reports, stating, “As we previously stated, Kevin has been a key component of the success of our Yellowstone series, and we hope that continues from here on out.”
