The studio’s head, James Gunn, took to Twitter to inform fans that the much-anticipated second season of the DC Peacemaker Series would be delayed as the company shifted its focus to other projects, leaving fans disappointed.
The Recent News On DC Peacemaker Series
The anguish endured by fans of DC Peacemaker series! The delay is due to the need to prioritize the studio’s several other projects. Fans of the show will have to endure the agony of not seeing their favorite character return to the screen.
James just reacted to a tweet in which he was questioned whether or not the DC Peacemaker series had been canceled! This was his response.
Heck no, just postponed while I work on Legacy. Waller first. PM after.
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) February 14, 2023
According to James Gunn, it was postponed while he is working on Superman: Legacy and the Waller television series. Peacemaker fans should take solace in knowing that the program was one of James Gunn’s first forays into the DC world, following his successful soft relaunch of The Suicide Squad in 2021.
After years of upheaval inside the DCEU, the comedy-drama starring John Cena has received widespread recognition and critical acclaim, with a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This particular asset would most likely persist on the roster from prior to James Gunn and Peter Safran’s joint promotion to co-heads of DC Studios.
Yet, the move from the DC Extended Universe to the DC Universe under James Gunn has resulted in some fatalities. Although John Cena’s Peacemaker and his pet Eagle will return, it looks that Henry Cavill’s Superman, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, and maybe Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman are no longer in the picture. The fates of Ezra Miller and two of the three current Batmans will have to wait until the box office results of The Flash come in.
Peacemaker fans may have been dismayed by the missing of the program from James Gunn’s list of active DC Studios projects. Gunn explained that the list is part of a broader story arc titled “Gods and Monsters,” which will last eight to ten years. This means that Peacemaker season 2 is in the second part of the story.
Gods and Monsters, the forthcoming film, will begin with a fresh start named Superman: Legacy. Filmmaker James Gunn has stated unequivocally that this film will neither star Henry Cavill or depict the origin tale of the legendary Kryptonian superhero. After this, the current focus is on the live-action HBO Max series centered around Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis), the relentless coordinator of the Suicide Squad.

It could make more sense to postpone the publication of Peacemaker, especially if the main character is compelled to rejoin the Suicide Squad. Based on the events in Waller, John Cena’s character might have a whole different plot (which is a feasible given the writer’s inclination to kill off characters). Unfortunately, it’s clear that DC Peacemaker Series isn’t a key focus right now.
