Claire Boucher, widely known as Grimes, recently submitted a legal document titled “petition to establish parental relationship” in a California court.

This filing aims to formally recognize the legal parents of a child in cases where the parents are not married. While the details of the case are publicly available, the specific documents have been sealed.

Notably, there has been no response from Tesla co-founder Musk regarding her petition. It’s worth mentioning that Grimes has not yet requested child support or custody rights. She, 35, and Musk, 52, were romantically involved from 2018 until their final separation in September 2021, following an on-again, off-again relationship.

The Canadian artist gave birth to their first child, their son named X Æ A-Xii, in May 2020. Subsequently, the former couple discreetly welcomed their daughter, Exa Dark Sideræl, also known as Y, through a surrogate in December 2021.

The exact birth date of Tau remains unclear. Grimes’ recent petition coincides with her plea on Twitter to Musk, urging him to permit her access to their son.

In response to Walter Isaacson’s tweet sharing pictures of the billionaire’s twins, Strider and Azure, whom he shares with Shivon Zilis, the singer known for “Oblivion” initially posted a since-deleted tweet. In that tweet, she said, “Tell Shivon to unblock me and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer. I have never even been allowed to see a photo of these children until this moment, despite the situation utterly ripping my family apart.”

A few days later, she took to the same platform to explain that she had reached out to Zilis, who is 37 years old, with the intention of “de-escalating” the ongoing dispute.

“I spoke with Shivon at length finally, which was long overdue. This wasn’t her fault, plz don’t be angry at her!” She wrote. “We respect each other a lot and we’re excited to become friends and have the kids grow up together.”

Zilis responded to the musician, stating that “all ended up for the best.”
