Keanu Reeves And Other John Wick Stars Honor Late Lance Reddick
On Friday morning, Reddick, age 60, passed away of natural causes, barely one week before the release of his film alongside Keanu Reeves, John Wick: Chapter 4. In the film, Reddick reprises his role as Charon. The statement was made by Mia Hansen, his publicist. There was no other information given.
The actor has been remembered for his many performances that made him a household name in both cinema and television. Charon, the multitalented concierge of the Continental Hotel, is particularly fond of Reeves’s assassin, Wick.
Keanu Reeves And other John Wick Stars honor late Lance Reddick and are grieving the passing of his longtime costar and buddy. “I always said to him that people liked John Wick because he liked John Wick,” During Monday’s premiere in Los Angeles, Reeves spoke about his late costar.
“Just to be in his light and to get a chance to work with him, I’ll cherish for the rest of my life,” Reeves continued. “He had such a passion for his work and his craft. He was gracious. He had a dignity to him and a presence.”
Reeves and filmmaker Chad Stahelski announced in a joint statement on Friday that they were dedicating the latest installment of the franchise to Reddick.
John Wick’s quest for ultimate retribution against the criminal organization The High Table continues in this fourth installment as he faces up against the new enemy, Marquis de Gramont (Bill Skarsgard).
“We lost our brother, and in a really sort of very shocking way. I think we’re all still in shock. “Life is,” Fishburne, evidently startled, remarked after a little pause, “hard sometimes.”
Some cast and crew members donned blue ribbons in tribute to Reddick, a dynamic character actor who appeared in such films as “The Wire,” “Oz,” and the “John Wick” series.
“You know, it’s always hard when you lose someone that you love dearly . . . but you’re also incredibly grateful for the time you had together. We were fortunate enough to work with Lance since the very beginning of the ‘John Wick’ franchise. I mean it’s been almost 10 years,” director Chad Stahelski spoke. “I really wish he could be with us tonight, but, you know, life. But we’re very fortunate to have known him. And he’s a great man, a great artist, a great human, a dear friend.”
In addition to Reeves, Skarsgard, and Reddick (who passed away unexpectedly before filming began), the cast also includes Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada (Bullet Train), Shamier Anderson, and popstar Rina Sawayama.
In an interview with Vulture from December 2021, the late actor spoke highly of his time spent on set with Reeves, praising the star as “someone who’s very generous as an actor and then all about the work.”
This next installment of ‘John Wick’ hits cinemas this coming Friday.
