The popular baseball player Ha Seong Kim found himself entangled in dating rumors with the beloved American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. However, questions arose as to whether the two were genuinely in a romantic relationship.

On September 15, a San Diego-based sports writer named Al Scott posted a tweet stating that Ha Seong Kim and the international pop star Taylor Swift were “quietly hanging out.”

The tweet immediately went viral, eliciting responses from numerous fans. News of the tweet also gained viral traction in Korea, leaving many bewildered.

The question arises: Is Taylor Swift dating Ha Seong Kim? Most likely not.

It seemed as though the sports writer was engaging in light-hearted allusions to a prior dating gossip involving Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, who had previously been rumored to be “quietly hanging out.”

Following this, a multitude of Twitter users playfully asserted that Taylor Swift had also been spending time with them. The consensus appeared to be that this “Love Story” was nothing more than a whimsical internet jest.

Notably, Taylor Swift graced the 2023 MTV VMAs with her presence, where her reaction to Stray Kids’ debut performance with their song “S-Class” on the VMAs stage became an internet sensation.

Who exactly is Ha Seong Kim?

Kim Ha Seong, a versatile MLB player for the San Diego Padres, was the 41st overall pick in the 2014 KBO Draft by the Nexen Heroes. He began his pro career with them in May 2014, winning the Golden Glove Award in 2018, 2019, and 2020. In December 2020, he signed with the Padres, transitioning to MLB.

Born on October 17, 1995, in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, he’s the youngest of three siblings. Kim excelled at Yatap High School in Seongnam, leading them to a runner-up finish in the 2013 National High School Baseball Tournament. His final high school season saw a .375 batting average, .477 on-base percentage, and 20 stolen bases.

Kim also represented South Korea in various international competitions, including the 2013 18U Baseball World Cup, 2017 World Baseball Classic, 2017 Asia Professional Baseball Championship, 2018 Asian Games, and 2019 WBSC Premier12.

Notably, at the 2013 18U Baseball World Cup, he batted .433 with three RBIs and nine runs scored, despite South Korea’s 5th place finish. He also earned recognition as the best shortstop in the 2019 WBSC Premier12.
