The Script Guitarist Mark Sheehan

On April 14th, 2023, we lost the co-founder and guitarist of The Script, Mark Sheehan. Together with lead singer Danny O’Donoghue and drummer Glen Power, he started the band in 2001.

According to the band’s Twitter, the 46-year-old passed away in the hospital after a short illness. His death was revealed by the organisation on April 14. It is still unclear what ultimately caused Mark’s death or sickness.

“Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness. The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time,” the Irish rock band said on Twitter. 

Mark Sheehan, lead singer Danny O’Donoghue, and drummer Glen Power reportedly created the band in 2001.

After hearing the news, his colleagues and devoted followers rushed to pay tribute to his life and work.

More About Mark Sheehan

Mark Anthony Sheehan was born on October 29, 1976 in Dublin, Ireland. Formerly, he performed in the Irish boy band Mytown. Mark and his close friend Danny O’Donoghue established The Script in 2001. They helped bring Glen Power on as their drummer.

He married Rina in 2005, and their kid was born three years later. Until the guitarist’s death earlier this week, they had been married for seventeen yearsThe Sheehans (Mark and Rina) are a family of three. Cameron was born to them in 2008, making him their oldest child. The couple eventually had two children, a daughter named Avery and a son named Lil.

Mark took a hiatus last year to devote more time to his family after becoming ill so that he could be with his loved ones, as revealed by fellow band member Danny. It was because of this that Danny and Glen agreed to lead the tour’s US leg. If I may paraphrase what he said, Danny remarked, “It’s his story to tell, but yeah, if I could paraphrase, his children needed a father and his wife needed a husband.”
