Well-known celebrity stylist Law Roach recently announced his retirement, leading many to speculate about his future plans.

But what really impressed us was how active he remained even after retirement. Roach announced his retirement on social media (Instagram) two days after the 2023 Academy Awards, which took place in March.

We later learn, though, that he had taken down the post. Internet users and fans alike have speculated that Zhendaya had a part in his announcement. Law clarified the situation on Twitter, saying that Zendaya is more of a little sister to him than a client.

During the 2023 Academy Awards after-party, he had just finished styling Hunter Schafer, Megan Thee Stallion, Kerry Washington, Hailee Steinfeld, and Eve Jobs.

His Recent Revelation About the Future

In a recent interview with People, Roach revealed that he didn’t retire and believed that the following day would be perfect. However, he experienced various stages of grief as he had lost something that had been a significant part of his life for many years. He felt as though a part of him had died, and he went through emotions such as guilt, sadness, and dark depression for a couple of days.

“I didn’t retire and thought the next day was going to be perfect. So, I’m going through certain stages of grief. I literally lost something that had been so important to me and such a big part of me for so many years, that it felt like a part of me died. So, I went through guilt and sadness and a couple of days of just dark depression.”

Roach also mentioned that his business was always running, and he always prioritized his clients and work. Nevertheless, he is now trying to figure out what brings him joy and how to take care of himself. He expressed excitement about learning and making himself a priority.

“I’m always up because my business is always running, so I always prioritize my clients and my business. Now, I’m trying to figure all that out. First of all, I don’t know what brings me joy, and I don’t know how to take care of myself yet. So, again, I’m learning, and I’m excited to learn. I’m excited to make me the priority.”

Roach has walked in the Boss Spring/Summer 2023 show and traveled to Mumbai alongside Zendaya to attend the inauguration of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Culture Centre (NMACC) after declaring his retirement. He also promoted the upcoming Netflix series Beef at a “Release Your Anger” retreat and announced a collaboration with T.J. Maxx.

At the retreat, Roach explained that his decision to retire was motivated by his anger towards himself for losing track of his priorities. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Roach stated, “It was the rage I had with myself. I think that I’ve given so much of me to my clients and to my career and to my success that I don’t know really when the last time I was a priority for me.”

At that moment [when Roach announced his retirement], he had experienced some events, but he wasn’t angry at anyone outside of himself. He realized that he didn’t love himself and all of his anger was directed inward. During this outburst of rage, Roach made the decision to step down and said, ‘You know what, get somebody else to do it.’
