Aftershock Music Festival Starts in Sacramento
Aftershock Music Festival, touted as California’s largest rock festival of its kind, celebrates various genres within the realm of metal music, encompassing rock, heavy metal, punk, hardcore, and nu-metal. Headlining acts this year include Avenged Sevenfold, Tool, Korn, and Guns N’ Roses.
Last year, the festival made history by drawing in over 160,000 enthusiastic fans, contributing nearly $30 million to the Sacramento region’s economy. Impressively, more than 65% of attendees traveled from outside the region, hailing from all 50 states and representing 35 different countries, as stated by the organizers.

Chamie McCurry, CMO of Danny Wimmer Presents, remarked on the festival’s growth, saying, “I mean, this is the West Coast’s biggest rock festival. We’ve been doing this for over a decade, and I mean it’s grown from a one-day event to four days, attracting 40,000 people each day.”
Aftershock Music Festival’s doors swing open at noon on Thursday, and the musical journey continues until 11 p.m. on Sunday night. If you’re yet to secure your tickets, there are still some available here.
For those attending on Thursday, two standout additions to the lineup are White Reaper, a classic rock-style band hailing from Kentucky, and Nothing But Thieves, a critically acclaimed Indie Rock band from Britain with a growing international fan base.

The festival boasts a lineup featuring iconic acts from the 80s and 90s, including legends like Guns N Roses, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Megadeth, and Tool. It also features pioneers in the genre, such as The Cult, AFI, L7, Incubus, Stone Temple Pilots, and Rancid.
Notable bands with large fan bases set to perform in Aftershock Music Festival include Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack, Skillet, 311, Corey Taylor (Slipknot’s lead singer), and Queens of the Stone Age.
Among the rising stars taking the stage are Bad Omens and I Prevail, who have played significant roles in the resurgence of hardcore and nu metal, blending driving rhythms, powerful choruses, impressive vocal ranges, and catchy hooks that often approach pop chart hits.

For those wondering how to get to Aftershock, Discovery Park is conveniently located adjacent to Interstate 5 in downtown Sacramento, with entrances accessible from the north side at the Garden Highway entrance or from the south at Jibboom Street. Please note that parking is not available at Discovery Park. Attendees are encouraged to use shuttle services, SacRT light rail and supplemental bus services, rideshares, taxis, or bikes to access the event.
