She introduced the clip by saying that she believes the idea is “hilarious” and that she wanted to spread the word about it since she hadn’t come across anybody else discussing it.

She told her 54 million followers, “Coachella’s like the influencer olympics, right? It’s the place to be. But most influencers, or a lot of influencers, don’t even go to Coachella, and I think that this is such a wild fact.”

The “Piece of Work” singer went on to say that some of these celebrities would just get a room at an Airbnb in the vicinity of Indio, California where the music festival is hosted.

She mentioned that they would dress up, have their makeup done, and only take photos without entering the festival. According to her, they lacked wristbands and would simply drive to the desert to create content for Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms.

“They don’t have wristbands, they just drive their little butts out to the desert to take Instagram photos, make TikToks, get ready with me’s, whatever. And then they drive back, and that’s it.”

Afterwards, they would return home. At the end of the 49-second video, Gray reminded her viewers not to feel “sad” or experience FOMO since many social media influencers they follow aren’t present at the festival either. She stated that it was a common occurrence that she assumed people already knew, but since no one talked about it, she decided to share the information with her audience.

“It’s like a very common occurrence that I thought people knew, but then I didn’t see anyone talking about it, so now you know.”
