Austin Butler Helping Sally And Jennifer Walk On Stage At The SAG Awards
Austin was among the numerous celebrities that attended the 29th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night. The 31-year-old actor was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his work in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, which has received critical praise since its premiere last summer. While Austin lost the prize to The Whale’s Brendan Fraser, his chivalrous approach to many celebrities gained him the hearts of admirers all around the world.
Austin was first seen assisting fellow actor Sally Field, 76, when she was named the winner of the Life Achievement Award. She received the honor from her The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield, who commended her for inspiring “awe in every actor’s heart.”

As the audience applauded for Sally, Austin took her hand and led her from her table to the stage. Austin kept a steady pace, looking Sally in the eyes and smiling encouragingly as he guided her up the stage stairs, where she was welcomed by Andrew. Unsurprisingly, Austin’s wonderful act moved admirers to tears, and many flocked to social media to celebrate the “beautiful moment.”
Fans were even more moved when Austin later volunteered his support to fellow actress Jennifer Coolidge. Jennifer’s exceptional performance in HBO’s The White Lotus earned her the Emmy for Best Female Actress in a Drama Series. The same as Sally, Austin greeted Jen as she approached the stage, and the two continued to walk hand in hand until she reached the top of the stairs. Bringing attention to the touching occasion, other followers couldn’t help but praise Austin’s generosity once again.
