Roach announced his retirement Tuesday, just days after styling celebrities for the Oscars, in an Instagram post that startled fashion lovers and his celebrity patrons.
Fans and former clients expressed astonishment and grief in the comments section of Roach’s Instagram post. Yet, several applauded Roach’s decision to stand down, stressing that mental health comes first.
“My Cup is empty….. thank you to everyone who’ve supported me and my career over the years. Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all. When Roach emphasized that his resignation had nothing to do with the Emmy-winning actress, his trendy admirers breathed a sigh of relief. Roach explained Wednesday night in a series of tweets that he will continue to collaborate with Zendaya: “We are forever, “She’s my little sister and it’s real love, not the fake industry love.” He wrote.

Roach’s Recent Works:
Roach designed ensembles for 10 Met Gala attendees, including actress Hunter Schafer, TikTok sensation Addison Rae, singer Kehlani, and Chance the Rapper, to meet the “In America: A Lexicon Of Fashion” theme.
Roach-curated outfits have lately made waves on social media, with Schafer and Megan Thee Stallion‘s Vanity Fair Oscars Party looks garnering hundreds of thousands of likes on Twitter.
Celine Dion, Kerry Washington, Megan Thee Stallion, Halsey, Tom Holland, and Anne Hathaway were among Roach’s other patrons.
Roach is most recognized for being Zendaya’s “image architect” and catapulting her to fashion icon stature: in 2021, she became the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Fashion Icon Award‘s youngest recipient.
Zendaya, who is now renowned for her roles in HBO’s Euphoria and films, had her first major appearance on Disney Channel, Roach claimed that “nobody wanted to dress the Disney girl,” so he adopted her as his inspiration and designed a “plan of attack” for her style.
Roach adorned Zendaya like Cinderella and appeared as her fairy godmother at the 2019 Met Gala, her outfit lighting up with a few waves of his hand.
Roach also styled Zendaya for her Dune press tour in 2021, providing outfits inspired by the film, and acted as the costume designer for her Malcom & Marie film in 2021.
